Western Spirit: Scottdale’s Museum of the West will host the exhibition, “Mac Schweitzer: A Southwest Maverick Rediscovered,” from October 18, 2025, to September 30, 2026. Come view more than one hundred paintings, prints, and sculptures by Mac Schweitzer. Examine her sketchbooks and drawings. Browse through digital images of her scrapbooks with family photos and watch some of her home movies—all taken in the Four Corners region of the Southwest during the 1950s.
Guest curator Ann Hedlund says, “We hope you will see why this artist’s work was popular at mid-century, and understand why it disappeared from view for sixty years. Also, learn how it was rediscovered!”
